Weekend in Tallulah Falls

The website is not lying when it says Tallulah Falls is "one of the most spectacular canyons in the eastern U.S." The Gorge is two miles long and nearly 1,000 feet deep. We hiked the rim trails to several overlooks, and climbed over 1200 stairs descending to and ascending from the canyon floor. There was a cool suspension bridge that sways 80 feet above the rocky bottom, that Rachel couldn't get over fast enough. Of course I helped a bit by jumping up and down to make sure she really felt it move. On the west rim we saw remnants of a tightrope rig.  Turns out the rig was from Karl Wallenda and he wasn't the only one to cross the gorge. Inside the visitors center you can find exhibits that highlight the history of the nearby Victorian resort town, as well as stuffed & live animals that represent the wildlife you might find on one of the many trails.
